The quiet mover playbook
You've read how insider buys, whale flows, prediction markets, and the Signal Score work on their own. This is how you put them together into a simple, repeatable weekly routine โ the way a Sort Brick member actually finds names before the crowd does.
A "quiet mover" is the most valuable thing Sort Brick looks for: a name where the money is moving but the noise hasn't caught up โ price climbing, insiders buying, evidence stacking, while the financial media is still looking elsewhere. Catch enough of those early and you're playing a different game than the people reacting to headlines.
Here's the workflow. It takes about fifteen minutes, twice a week.
Step 1 โ Start at the top of the Signals board
Open the Signals board and look at the highest Signal Scores. But don't stop at the number โ read two things next to it:
- The verdict. You specifically want ๐ quiet movers (price moving, chatter still low) โ that's the divergence that means you're early. A "real move" is already confirmed; a "quiet mover" might not be for long.
- The confidence badge. Favor moderate and strong. A preliminary name goes on a watchlist, not in your focus list yet.
Write down the three to five names that are both highly scored and flagged quiet. That's your candidate pool for the week.
Step 2 โ Open the factor breakdown and ask "why is this here?"
Click into each candidate and look at which factors built the score. This is the step most people skip, and it's the one that matters most. A 70 built on insider buying + a government contract is a fundamentally different setup than a 70 built on chatter + price.
The strongest quiet movers are carried by leading indicators โ insider cash, a fresh contract, an 8-K, institutional buying โ not just by the move that's already happening. Leading indicators are why you're early. Confirming indicators just tell you you're not too late.
Step 3 โ Cross-check the insider data
For any name with an insider factor, look at the actual buys. Apply the test from our insider guide: is this real open-market cash, or just a board grant dressed up as buying? Are several different insiders buying, or one? How big are the checks relative to the people writing them?
This is exactly how the HOOD setup looked before its ~22% move โ a director, Meyer Malka, putting $55M of his own money in over eight days while the stock was still quiet. That's the texture of a real quiet mover: someone who knows is acting, and the price hasn't fully reacted.
Step 4 โ Read the story
Every scored name links to a sourced write-up: what's happening, the numbers, and our read on whether it's real. Read it. The story is where you find out whether the signal is a durable setup or a one-day blip โ and where the sources are, so you can judge for yourself instead of taking our word for it.
Step 5 โ Build the watchlist and let it ripen
You don't have to act on day one. The most useful thing the board gives you is a watchlist of names where evidence is accumulating โ then you watch the score over the following days:
- Score rising, new factors appearing? The thesis is strengthening. This is the signal getting louder before the crowd hears it.
- Score fading, chatter spiking? The move may be flipping from quiet to crowded โ the easy edge is gone.
- Verdict flips to "fake hot"? Money and noise have diverged the wrong way. Cross it off.
Putting it together
That's the whole loop, and it's deliberately boring:
1. Top of the Signals board โ 2. filter for quiet movers with moderate/strong confidence โ 3. read the factor breakdown โ 4. verify the insider buys are real cash โ 5. read the story โ 6. add to watchlist and track the score over the week. Repeat twice a week.
None of these signals is a guarantee โ insiders are early and sometimes wrong, quiet movers sometimes just go quiet, and any system flatters itself on recent data. But the discipline is what gives you an edge: you're systematically looking where real money is moving before the story breaks, instead of chasing whatever's already on the front page.
By the time a move is news, it's priced in. The whole game is being there a step earlier โ with evidence, not a hunch.
